Destructive Boston Terrier

by Aileo
(Carolina, PR)

Hello, our BT turned 1yr old yesterday (Aug 25). As of 2-3 weeks, she has become rather destructive. she bites things only when we are asleep or when we're not home. she has also stopped listening to our commands. we never had her professionally trained so we thought that professional training should work. please let me know what can i do....It is getting intolerable!!!!

thank you!!!

She lonely and Scared
by: Ziva's Mom

I think she is just scared and lonely and don't forget bored. My little girl stays in her crate while we are away, I truly belive that she feels safe and is content. I do leave the TV on for her so there is sound so she doesn't feel totaly alone. Try the crate, I know some people think it is cruel ( I was one of them) unitl my Daughter who has raised many dogs from Mutts to Pit Bulls told me that is was the right thig to do, and yes for once my daughter was right ;). Good Luck with her.

On your little BT
by: Anjie

She is acting out because she does not like being alone. She is doing everything she is not suspose to do while you are gone. My BT's do the same thing. We try to put up everything we thik they can tear up. If they are good when we get back they get treats, but not when they have misbehaved. BT's are people dogs and need lots of attention. She is just showing you that she doesn't like being by herself. I would scold her and let her know that what she did was naughty, but you have to beareful because the BT's are very sensitive. They get their little feelings hurt so easily. Sorry you are having trouble with your little one. Hopefully this helped.
Good luck
Anjie

Suggestions for Destructive Boston Terrier
by: Susan Castelletti

I'm no expert, but it seems like your BT needs to get more exercise (indoors or out--just be careful if you live in a climate that is excessively hot and humid with these little guys, because they can get heat stroke very easily). You can walk earlier in the mornings or later in the afternoons/evenings when it cools down. Also, play some "fetch" games, hide and seek--anything that she likes to do that is fun and stimulating for her, plus it will make her calmer and more tired. Do you crate her when you are out? I've also found that my BTs love those toys that you can fill with kibble or small treats, and they really have to work at getting them out. Good luck! Don't give up! These are wonderful pups!
