Crate Training my 7 week old Boston Terrier

by Jules

We just bought 'Declan' our 6 week old Boston Terrier and we want to crate train him. He constantly whines all night when we put him in. And of course it's like having a newborn in the house again (14 yrs ago was the last time) It has been 5 days, is that typical? He's been on dry food since we got him with no problem, solid bowel movements regularly, normal 'playful biting' and runs around playing. Can you help?

Snuggle puppy Or kitty

Try getting a snuggle puppy or kitty if the puppy is sold out. It has a heart beat inside you can turn on or off. This helped with our new puppy. Good luck

We bought ear plugs.
Most dogs will stop whining when they realize it does not help their case. But some never will and other things need to be tried.

I have heard some people put the crate on their night stand by their heads and it comforts the dog. Others put them in another room. My daughter lets her sleep in her bed.

The important thing is to be persistent and find what works for you and your dog.

Where do you put the crate while you are training?
