My boston is one and weighs 31 lbs (okay, heavier than the suggested weight standard) and his current crate is 24"L X 18" wide and it is way too small for him. I'm moving up to a 30"L X 21" wide, which is the next size up.

I would say a 24" long crate would be perfect, otherwise known as a 'small'.

Crate Size for Bostons by: Kathleen
Hi Joanna - Our two crates are each 22"wide x 30"long x 24"high (one for each dog). It's just perfect size-wise for them. Our Bostons are about 16" - 17" tall (well, at least that I could tell when trying to actually measure them!). Our Bostons are pretty standard in height. You want to make sure they have enough room to stand up, turn around and relax comfortably (also room for food/water if you're away for an extended period).
Also, one of the features I like on our crate is that it has 2 doors, one on the short side and one on the long side, so there's flexibility in where we locate it.
