Coat Change

We have a female black and white BT, she is four months old and just in the last week her coat has started having brown stripes show up in it. Is this normal, or maybe a breeding problem? Or is her coat changing to brindle? I couldn't find out if the dogs are born with a brindle coat or if it changes, or any other information regarding coat changes.

Your new pups coat is fine and acceptable. It is not a breeding problem. Somewhere there was brindle in the line of breeding. It will never turn to a total brindle but the reddish may come out a little more in the next couple months. You will see it more so in the sunlight. A true black and white has no brindle in the coat. The black is a very jet black.

As puppies get older their coats may lighten revealing brindle or color changes.
