My dog chews on his back legs - is this normal?

I think your dog probably has an either an anxiety issue or an allergy. You can give your Boston 1 benadryl capsule, then watch to see if the chewing abates... that might indicate an allergy. (My dog got hives one day, and that was the treatment recommended by the vet.) There may be a "hot spot" brewing. Hopefully it won't accelerate to the point of a major skin irritation and open sores. If it heads that way, see your vet. You might also try an OTC hydrocortisone spray or cream (from a pet store)mto see if that stops the itching. Good luck.
