Cherry Eye

My 11 month old BT boy developed cherry eye. The vet operated on it about 3 weeks ago and it looked so much better. Yesterday, I noticed the inside of his eye was very red so I put more drops in his eye. Is this normal?

Cherry eye

My 18 months old had cherry eye when she was 3 months old and she had to have a surgery. She has had redness in her eyes and some discharge now and then. I put some drops if I feel it is needed like Visine or Claritin (as her vet recommended). I would not put any antibiotic drops before consulting with the vet. So if I were u I would check it with the vet before putting any drops in your puppy's eye. The vet told me the redness and discharge were normal since bostons have big eyes and they are sniffing a lot so dust and allergens get into the eyes easily and causes redness and irritation. Of course if u think the redness is getting worse or it does not look right, contact the vet as soon as possible. I always ask the vet before using any medication. I also clean my puppy's eyes with clean tissue on regular basis and keep checking the eyes to make sure they are clean and free from anything that could cause problem. Hope it helps.
