Catfood

I have a one year old Boston Terrier that I love dearly..but..I can only get her to eat CAT FOOD! She won't touch dogfood and the only other food she will eat is people food and I know that's bad for her. Long-term, does anyone know what (if any) damage will be done by allowing her to continue eating the catfood?

Cat Food

Dogs need ten amino acids that cannot be manufactured by the dog and are considered dietary essentials. These ten essential amino acids are argine, histidine, isoleucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. These are not found in cat food. Without these amino acids found in dog food your little BT is lacking the nutrition that it needs to thrive and age properly. Long term syptoms of amino acid deficiency include depressed appetite, impaired growth, gray hair coat, low hemoglobin levels, immune deficiency, and lowered reproductivity performance. Your BT will start to eat dog food if there is no cat food available to eat. Dogs will not starve themselves. It may take a day or two but do not give in.

Spoiled and loving it

yes cat food is very bad for dogs and can do liver damage in the long run. when your dog gets hungry enough he will eat dog food you will just have to tough it out and not feel sorry for him, it is like a kid who only wants to eat candy and nothing else.People food will also give you problems in the future because he will end up with bad teeth and it is not a balanced diet that your dog needs.
You have a spoiled one on your hands and he knows how to manipulate you into giving him what he wants. No one said these were stupid dogs did they... LOL
Good Luck and stay strong.
