Just what I needed

Just what I needed

My name is Nikki. I am a Registered Nurse, photographer & runner. In the last 4 years I have experienced a great deal of loss. I lost my Brother-In-Law, Grandfather & Mother in 2005. Last April (2009) I lost my Dad. Being a nurse, it has very challenging for me accept the losses, "move on" & continue to nurse. For the last 8 months, I have had this strong maternal feeling that went beyond "nursing." While not understanding this strong feeling I continued to struggle with grief & spent most of my time in bed. On December 29 I adopted a 5 years old B.T. named Buoy. I could see that she needed a lot of 1 on 1 time, patience & a chance to be a loving & loyal member of her pact. Buoy has awakened a part me that I have not seen in 4 years. This little creature gets me out of bed, makes me laugh and has touched my heart every single day she has been with me. It may be a bit "dramatic" to say she saved my life but, I will say that she has restored my optimism and hope towards the future.

I lost my mom 2 years ago and got my first Boston 8 mths. after she passed. He has filled a void in my heart. I swear I can see my mother looking at me through his beautiful brown loving eyes. They are a God send.

Saving
by: Anonymous

I lost my mother 20 years ago, my step mother 2 years ago, and my father n law 1 year ago. I now have a very difficult father living with me. I'm feeling tons of stress.

I decided to visit a friend I had not visited in a long while. She happens to have two Boston Terriers. My friend and her husband were amazed because one of the dogs do not like strangers.

Both of the dogs fell head over heals in love with me, jumped in my lap and just kissed me better. I felt the stress melt away.

I feel like they knew I needed them. Needless to say Im in love with Boston Terriers now and have decided to buy one. I have one on hold for when she comes of age. I can't wait I have a ton of love to give.

Buoy-ed up
by: Linda Galway/TurnerME

Your story is both sad and encouraging. I agree that having a Boton to love can be the best medicine in the world. Take care of yourself and your little girl, and everything will turn 'round right.

Moving On
by: Tami

KUDOS to you for finding the strength to move on and embrace life again. It sounds like you have found a friend for life in your boston. Our family suffered the loss of 2 of our beloved dogs in 2009 and as hard as that was to get through, we fell in love quickly with our 2 new boston's, Sasha & Lucy. It's amazing how they love you and make you laugh ALL THE TIME! It is exactly what we needed and look forward to a happily ever after. May God bless you with many, many happy days with your Buoy!
