Bump / Hair Loss on Boston Terrier

Why would my BT have a large bump on his back and lost hair on that bump? It doesn't seem to bother him though. Has anyone had this same problem? It does not seem to bother him - it started over the course of one day. It got really big really fast and I brought to the Vet and he says he didn't see a bite mark or anything. He gave me a cream to put on the bump, shortly after he started to lose his hair in the affected area. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Spider bite
by: Holly

Often the bite of a spider can cause necrosis
(death of epedermis) in the affected area. The swelling may be severe enough to hide the bite. The tissue death may cause the follicles to drop their hair temporarily.

If this is a bite, make sure that the swelling stays in the localized area and doesn't turn systemic. This would be characterized by a fever.

The speed of which the bump developed seems to indicate a recent trauma.

Bump
by: Anonymous

Boston's are common to have tumors or cysts on the legs. My boston had a bump on his leg. It was big and smooth no hair. My vet said that it was common for bostons to have these. There are two different kinds, one is non cancerous and the other is cancerous. My vet did nothing about it and it went away.
