I'll be getting an 8 wk old Boston Terrier soon and I'm wondering what size crate to start him off in. I know he shouldn't have too much room but what is an appropriate size? Should we start with a very small crate and then get a larger one as he grows?

My baby Bostons did just fine in a small, plastic cat crate; they felt cozy but had enough room to move around, and it was small enough for us to put it on the bed with us (toward the foot of the bed) for the first few nights. That helped with anxiety; put a towel or small blanket over it, leaving just a little bit open on the door, creating a den.
Eventually moved it to the nightstand, still within view of us but not on the bed, and then finally to the floor. Having a variety of sizes helps as they grow, or you can move him/her into a wire crate that has the divider. You don't want so much room in the crate that they pee/poop in one corner and have plenty of room to sleep.
Good luck!

With our BT we bought a medium size cate that has a devider in it. You can set the devider to how ever much room you want the dog to have and expand it as they grow. The name of the company that makes it is, "I-Crate". We got ours at Pet Smart. We brought Clancy home at 7 pounds. Now he wieghs 28 pounds at 7 months old. The crate has worked very well all along. Good look with your new pup.
