Bostons and Boxers?

Tucker! :)

Tucker! :)

My grandmother and I are looking to get another puppy. She had a boxer years and years ago and absolutely loves the breed, but after he passed she decided to get a boston because of the many similarities, but she wanted a smaller dog. I absolutely love boxers, and I was just wondering if anyone knew if they would get along ok? or what to look out for? the boston we have right now(Tucker) is 3 years old and still full of energy! I take him to the dog park and he does GREAT with the larger dogs, even tried to play with a great dane one day. Just wondering if these 2 would be compatible breeds?

We had two Boxers, age 4 and 6, before we brought a Boston into our home. They are all females so they aren't territorial at all. They get along swimmingly. The younger boxer and the boston play together all the time. The older boxer loves the Boston but as she is older she isn't as active when playing with her. I got my Boston because I wanted an "apartment-sized Boxer", she has been a wonderful addition.

While Boxers and Bostons have a lot in common there are just as many differences. My BT is super fast but unlike the Boxers she doesn't know when to slow down. When she was a puppy I had to hold her and calm her down so she didn't overexert herself. I hope this was helpful.

I have 3 1/2 Bostons (one Bugg). I was in a Petco one day and a lady had a deaf white boxer. I brought in my deaf white Boston and they took to each other right away. There were no introduction problems, it was if they had know each other for years.

I have a 7 year old boxer and she was so lonely that about 4 years ago I bought us a Boston. They took to each other like mama and baby instantly. Rose weighs 70 lbs and Lily was only 4.5 lbs when I brought her home. She walked right up to Rose's food dish, got into it, and started eating. Rose waited patiently for her to finish, then they went to Rose's bed for a nap, but not before Rose washed Lily up and tucked her in against her body. Wish I could send you pictures somehow. Precious.

ed., Tammy - feel free to create a post in the photo gallery if you'd like to share those photos here. I bet they're adorable!

Boston and Boxer Best Friends
by: RK

I was raised with Boxers and raised my own kids with Boxers. When my Sam passed and my adult kids left home I too "downsized" to a Boston. My little man is 6 years old. My son recently adopted a 5 year old Boxer. With the proper intoroductions, they have become the best of friends. The Boxer is very docile and will submit to my Boston. The next minute my Boston is on his back and the Boxer is in charge! They have a tendancy to play kind of rough and need to be supervised during their romps. Other than that, they love to be together!

Boxers and Bostons

I have had my Boston Terrier for 7 years and got a Boxer in September. They LOVE each other...The Boxer will let the Boston run all over him. They seem to make great companions. (Both are male and both are fixed).

My friend had her boxer first and then they got their Boston as a puppy. They get a long wonderfully! The Boston uses the Boxer as a pillow.
