Piper is 3 1/2 months old and it amazing, she is smart, loving, and of course playful. But I noticed that she gets the hiccups a lot does anyone know why this may happen.
My male boston had hiccups as a puppy. He's now 17 months old and no longer hiccups. The only things that could have changed that are either he grew out of it, or because I changed his diet to a lamb/rice kibble. His gassiness seems to have improved with the diet change as well.

puppies and hiccups by: Anonymous
Bostons are very vigourous when it comes to eating, especially when they are puppies. They will most likely grow out of it.

Hiccups by: Anonymous
I have a 8 week old BT and she hiccups almost EVERY single day, if not several times a day. This worries me as I've never seen this in dogs before and wonder if it's anything to worry about or if it's painful for her?

Hiccup Relief by: Jennifer
My Boston has hiccups a lot too. Hiccups are caused by the diaphragm being irritated. This can be caused by eating quickly, etc. I personally can get them if I am talking too fast and not breathing correctly. It makes sense to me that Bostons get hiccups frequently because they have breathing issues because of their short snout and enlarged pallet. When my girl gets the hiccups she comes to me because I make them go away. I hold open her mouth with one hand while covering her nose with a finger from the other hand. This forces her to take a large breath from her mouth. It really works every time.

Mine too! by: Mjl1127
I've noticed that with my BT, Oliver as well. He is 6months now, but it still occurs. If anyone knows the answer or if this is abnormal, that would be helpful.
