by Nicke Shirley

I have puppies that are half Boston Terrier and half Yorkshire Terrier. I am unsure what you would call them. They will be born sometime this week. If anyone has information on this hybrid breed please help.

Awesome breed, cute, smart, and loving.

I bought a Boston Yorkie pup about 1 month ago. I have been unable to find much information about the breed other than it's called a designer hybrid breed. But I will describe what I've observed so far.  Mom was a Brindle colored Boston, dad was a regular 3.5lb Yorkshire terrier. So the puppy is Brindle with white chest, short SOFT hair. Ears point up when she is listening or plotting a pounce attack and back towards her butt when she is bad or I have hurt her feelings. Whether I spank her or yell the look is the same.. As if I've told her the saddest story ever.

She thinks she is bigger than she is, but when it comes to it.. she runs away to hide. Loves to chew, but does not destroy toys like Rat terriers. Very easy to potty train. The second day I was able to get her to use puppy pad with showing her it, using simple 1 word pee or poop pad, and treats. She's very intelligent. She learned using the pad gets treats.. She learned to pee little but numerous times on the pad then to show me for treats. She eats a lot! Almost finished a 7.5lb bag in 4 weeks.

She is good with toys, but not with what's hers and what's mine. She plays with her squeaky puppy shaped toy by running with it and wrestling. At first I didn't realize what she was doing, but after an incident I figured it out. She kept putting either the head or butt of her puppy shaped toy into either the food or water dish, depending on which ever she used. I saw it and thought oh that's me, she's not that smart to think it's hungry or thirsty, but... She accidentally gave it too much water by putting the whole thing in the new big bowl I got her. She pulled it out.. When to run with it as usual and noticed it was leaving water on the floor after a couple feet.  She took it over to the puppy pad walked away turned around and sat down. After a few seconds she barked and barked again after a couple more. I distracted her with a treat and put the toy up to dry. VERY intelligent. She is easy to please, and loves to make me happy.  If I sleep she sleeps. I can tell she loves the smell of shoes so I am cautious to put those up high.  Not on the table as she has learned to climb things to get what she wants. Wants to touch me, lay on me, on feet, close by at most all times, chews her chew sticks on my feet,  but is very active when she plays.  It took me a while to find out if she would get mad or growl, which is good.  Overall she is exactly the descriptions of both.  She does vomit not often, but once in a while or gets hiccups, common to Yorkies. But honestly.. Best puppy I have ever lived with. I bought her for companionship and paid only 25.00$ now that I know her, I wouldn't take anything for her. I wish I could post pics.

Boston Yorkies
by: Shannon

They are called Boston Yorkies and they are recognized by the AKC. I have done a lot of research into this because my Boston is currently in labor with a litter of Boston Yorkies. I am excited. I can't wait to meet them.

Ed - Shannon, in checking the AKC website, I do not find that Boston Yorkies are listed as an AKC recognized breed. Perhaps you are referring to one of the hybrid registries?

My Yorkie/Boston Mix
by: Amanda

I have a Yorkie/Boston mix and he is the best little dog I've ever had...FUNNY Too!His mother was a boston and his father was a yorkie. I think he is sooo cute but he has some odd but cute features. Some people don't think he is cute but I love him. He is mostly the color of a yorkie but has splashes of white and the white on his chest. His hair is medium length and I keep it shaved. He sheds very little. He is about 15 pounds of solid muscle but is a little bow legged. He has an underbite like a Boston so it always looks like he is smiling and oh, has big ears that stick up. He is sooo sweet, loves to cuddle and is so affectionate. I had him since he was 8 weeks old and he was easy to house train. He is smart and full of energy but you have to make sure to let him know that you are boss. If you do this, this mix will listen to your every command. Macho is very sensitive and gets his feeling hurt easily, so you only have to raise your voice slightly. Even though he grew up with another dog, he is aggressive toward other dogs so alot of "doggie" socialization is a must at a young age. He is good with kids and people and has great health. What a joy to have! If you would like to see pictures, you can email me at amandarouda@gmail.com
