Boston Terrier with IBD

My Boston Rocky has been diagnosed with Severe IBD. He has been in the hospital 4 times in the last 2 months. We think the next option the vet will suggest is surgery to remove any ulcerous areas of his intestinal tract. Anyone else have this issue?
