Boston Terrier with Blue eye, cataract, 3rd eyelid?

by Alyse

Hi, so I have a three month old Boston terrier and hid 3rd eyelid is protruding a little..it's not swollen it is just more visible and he does not seem to be in any pain but the vet really scared us and then would not diagnose him..his eye has a touch of dark blue in it, so she thought maybe a cataract, I was wondering if the dark blue is a BT trait and the eyelid is what we are focusing on or what..he is being seen soon by a specialist but in the meantime I just wanted to share my story and see if anyone can relate thank you!

Cherry Eye

We had one puppy that developed cherry eye. Our vet said they didn't know what it was either. They first tried one thing then another. $$$$$ We searched for another vet who recognized it right away and took care of it himself. We switched vets right away.

It sounds like yours has cherry eye to me but I would find several vets in your area then try out more than one.

As far as dark blue eyes...all pups are born with the dark blue color, then they change later. I think they should have their normal eye color at about 3 or 4 months old.

Your specialist will be able to tell you right away if there are cataracts.
