Boston Terrier with Bad Breath

Toby is a 6 yr old Boston. His breath smells like something rotten. His teeth were checked 4 months ago (good) he had blood work at the same time (also good). His breath kills me and my husband. We think it could be acid but unsure? He is the love of our life! My husband and I have 2 Bostons and they are our children.
