boston terrier weight

I have a minature bosoton terrier that is really hyper . She is about two years old and weighs about 15lbs an she looks like she needs to gain. She is really active with her corgi mate. They run and play. Is this the right weight she should be?

I would say your BT is well within normal limits for her weight. Perhaps if we saw a photo, we could tell if she's underweight, but if she's active, she's certainly burning calories. You could check with your vet. BTW, as far as I know there is no such thing as a "miniature" BT; they come in three sizes for classification in the show ring, not to weigh more than 25 lbs. for the ring. If someone is breeding "miniature" Bostons, then they are probably just breeding small to small and hoping for a result that will fit that description. If that has changed since I was showing dogs, please, someone, fill us all in!

15 pounds is very average.
I have heard of as small as 8 pounds and 10 pounds is very common. My dogs are 17 pounds, 23 pounds, and 24 pounds but they are in the large group. The one that weighs 17 pounds has the more "fuller figure". If they are more active they will need more food. If you can see your boston's ribs you might want to add 1/4 cup to their feeding. I have one boston (the 23 pounder) that will eat anything you put down so I can only put down what is healthy for her.

My step-daughter's boston weighs 14 pounds. She is much smaller and her legs look like she should weigh more but the vet said she is fit as is. She is very healthy and active so we don't worry about her.
