Boston Terrier Rubbing Between Eyes

Sparky, our BT at about age 1.5 yrs and has started to constantly very gently rub the fur backwards that is between his eyes against pillows or anything soft. He will do it for long time periods. No apparaent sexual stimulation, he is neutered. His eyes cross everytime he makes a rub. What the hell is hapening?

we had a boxer who started rubbing her eyes excessively and it ended up being a corneal ulcer. you couldn't see it with naked eyes. do not wait to go to the vet because the eye can be lost.

I have no idea, but I'm interested to find out if others have experienced this. Usually, when my BT rubs his face, he's trying to remove the aroma, I guess, of his insect repellent.
