Our Boston just went to the vet yesterday and weighed in at 15 lbs. He is 3.5 months old... will be 4 months in two weeks. The previous vet visit was three weeks prior to yesterday (so just shy of 3 months old) and he was 11. He has gained 4 lbs in 3 weeks, but doesn't have an ounce of fat on him! Has long legs and is just stocky!

My male Boston weighed 9.3 lbs at 12 weeks. By the time he was a year old he weighed 25.5. He is now 8 years old and weighs about 33 lbs, down from 37. He reaches the higher weights when he is playing a lot of soccer. No fat on this boy. I also have 3 females whose weights range from 12 to 14 lbs.

If you weigh when it at six months old, and you double that weight, you will know how big it will be full grown(a year) males tend to finish body out by the age of 2 to 3 years age, females will thicken up a little but your mass of the body weight and growth can be well measured by using this simple formula as most vets do. I hope this helps and also you can judge too now if you know approximately how rapidly your puppy gains is gaining each month, otherwise just wait until it is 6 months of age and weigh it then and you should have some good idea to an answer to your question!

Size Matters by: Mary
13 pounds at 4 months with big paws sounds pretty big. He should be at least 26 pounds if not more. The best way to tell is to look at his parents and grand parents. That should give you a good range. Our male weighs 23 pounds. His mother weighed 16 and his father weighed 12. So he must have had big grandparents! He should stop growing at 10 to 12 months. Don't overfeed him though and make him a fatty! :)
