Boston Terrier puppies

(London, KY)

I have two full stock boston terriers. We decided to breed them and our female had 7 of the most beautiful boston terrier puppies. They are all health and moving about. Since our male has a stump tail and our female has a cork screw tail the litter have mixed tails, however one single puppy in the littler has quite a long tail. Is this normal? Why would this happen? I have been breeding Boston Terrier for over 15 years and have never seen this happen before. Please advise?

Help/Question

I think you should leave the tail they way it is because its nature. I have a male boston terrier that has just turned 8. He is as happy and fun to be around. Just was wondering where the closest breeders were from nebraska because we were planning on getting a girl boston terrier. It would be around next summer 2010 and im personally wanting a white and lavender puppy with blue eyes! Hope i can find some help!

Sincerely Yours,
Jade

His tail's cut long....
by: Mary

I read on an AKC Breeder's website that if a breeder bragged that there was never a long-tailed puppy born to him then you might want to check his truthfulness. It does happen, just as a champion can "throw" (as they call it) a red or "liver" pup. It probably comes from the fact that the White Terrier breed did indeed have long tails. Most breeders have their long-tailed pups docked...which keeps it from competing but it still makes a wonderful pet!
