Boston Terrier Peeing everywhere!

Please help! This is our first boston terrier, Sydney, and she makes us smile! She will turn 3 mos old on Dec. 5. We are having a very difficult time potty training her. We live in a 12th floor apartment so we have pee pads down in the kitchen where she gets blocked off while we're away and at night. She started to learn to pee on the pads and was doing it consistantly but ONLY when blocked off in the kitchen. When we got home or wake up we take her outside immediately (the pads would be used) and she'll do her buisness, we praise her everytime she pees/poops outside. The 1st problem was while she had free run of apartment she'd pee/poop whereever she pleased! She didn't know to go back into the kitchen to use her pee pads OR stand by the door. She did a great job however while she was blocked off, just not when we let her out around the living room. When she goes to squat we clap our hands and say NO and quickly bring her to her pee pads in the kitchen (if we cannot at that time take her outside) but she's not putting it together. She'll even lay down on her pee pads or just sit on them and look at you. Now, our 2nd problem is now that we're taking her out more consistently (when we first wake up or walk thru the door) she is now NOT peeing on her pads and peeing in her own bed/floor. So when we wake up in the am, her once soiled pee pads are clean and her own bedding is soaking wet! We don't know if we're confusing her or if we just need to keep at it and she'll eventually understand? Should we just get rid of the pee pads all together? We dont know what we're doing wrong.. I think we're confusing her by using pee pads AND taking her outside?? We spray her pads with puppy spray but that doesnt seem to work anymore. Any suggestions?

Potty problems
by: Alicia

Hi, i can totally relate to you and the Potty Training issues. My 4 month old BT likes to sleep on the puppy pad and will pee next to it / never on. i have tried the sprays and pads and have even tethered him to me so i know when he needs to go out and i take him out. But this has not helped the peeing inside. He has peed in his bed several times, on my bed once and i do think on every square inch of my apartment. He has been good recently with having a poo outside on the balcony (his area) but has had a few accidents inside. i've caught him eating his poo twice yesterday and have no idea what to do as he used to do this when i first got him but stopped for over a month and now it has started up again. Any ideas on how to stop this?

potty problems

My hubby and I have 2 Boston Terriers and we never had a problem with them using the potty inside the house. When we first brought them home we tired blocking them in a room until they were potty trained, but of course my hubby couldn't sleep because of the whining, so we put them in bed with us, and we have no problems. When they're little they're afraid to jump off the bed and this has worked for us. They just want to be close.

Peeing Problem
by: Anonymous

I have had 4 Boston Terriers. Bostons are noted for taking longer to housebreak. I have had males and females. Do not give up - the peeing will stop, but I found mine did not become totally housebroken until they reached 6 months of age. Blocking the puppy off in a small room with pee pads is a great way to train the puppy. Try removing one pad a day to see if you can eliminate using so many by making the area smaller and smaller. Don't give up - they day will come - and you will have a great dog to enjoy!!!

peeing problems
by: Beanpuppy

Hey, we have a 12 weeks old puppy and we are having the same problem. he will pee on his pads 50% of the time while confined in the kitchen, and 100% of the times when we take him out. When we let him run around the apartment to play however, he will pee in the carpet and even poo. we caught him eating his poo the other day as if he was trying to hide it! we clap and say NO and carry him to the pads, but now he has been peeing on his own little bed! what can we do?
