What should I be feeding my 6 month old Boston Terrier to firm up her stool? I got her through adoption, couldn't tell me what she was eating. I have changed foods three times, (not good) but need to know what is best so I can be consistent. I'm getting a lot of opinions.
I've been feeding my Boston Blue Buffalo puppy mix since we got her at 4 months. She is 11 months now and it makes her regular, have firm stool and tons of energy through out the day without being hungry all the time. We ran out of food for a couple of days and I had some kibbles and bits that the previous owner sent with her. I fed her that and saw how lazy and hungry she was through out the day. She also got constipated. So stay away from those types of dog food.

Loose stool by: Patty Newmarket, NH
Since Hines is still a puppy, has loose stools and you adopted him, I would make sure he doesn't have worms or parasites first. Whip worms are hard to diagnose with a fecal but your vet may want to deworm. If you notice blood in the stool at the end of his poop it is usually whip worms. Check that out before you do anymore changing of food. Good luck. Your vet can also give him probiotic powder to mix in his food as well.

How I improved loose stool by: Ann
I got mine Boston (Pixie) from a shelter. She was about 18 months, had had a litter of puppies and was very run down and only weighted about 10 lbs. Her stools were very loose and if he got upset it was worse. My vet told me to mix her dry Adult food (she is on Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice - small bites) with the Senior version of the same food as it has more fiber. I started with 2 cups of adult to 1 cup of senior. It help but they were still loose so now I do half and half. It has made a big difference. I do not think it matters the brand it is just that the senior has more fiber. Hope this helps you or something does. We do love our babies and yours is adorable.
