Boston Terrier Is Afraid of Husband

From Day One our five year old Boston Terrier that we got from a lady In Cranberry Township Pa has been afraid of my husband. When he goes to pick her up she will poop on the floor. She is that afraid of him. We tried having him feed her the treats as coming back in from pottying - she will take it and run. When it comes to us eating our food she will sit in front of him while he eats his food but any other yime she will run from him. I have talked to several people and they said it sounds like she was abused by a man and she fears men because of it. I've even asked the lady we got her from, but she didn't really answer me back on that but the man that she was fostering the dog from said she wasn't abused that he knew of My question is: How do you re-train her to overcome her fear of my husband. HELP! Please.

Some Bostons prefer men over women and some do not like men at all. We have a Boston that was 4 months old when we got her. She was afraid of Humans! It was pretty bad for the first day. But slowly she came around. It took about 4-5 months for her to really like people. She still doesn't really like being picked up, but I pick her up anyway. Then I lay her on her back. The trainer said that makes her know who is in charge. She doesn't do much when I have her "pinned" but she is very happy when I let her go. I only keep her down for a few seconds. Also, we "approach" her very gently and sweetly.

Don't give up and pretty soon her anxiety should be under control.

I wonder if your vet knows of some kind of Catnip for Boston's that will calm them down. I know a full stomach sure does!
