ok my boston terrier was quickly potty trained and does many tricks. we got him at 2 mos old and now he is 4 mos old.

At about 3 mos he got his last set of puppy shots he had an allergic reaction so he ended up getting a steroid to help him but before the steroid he had bubbles and bumps the 1st spot when we noticed he was having a allergic reaction is red almost looks dried up and really bad then the other spots he broke up at there is no hair and on his ears no hair.

now he continued to break out after the shot but the spots that broke out after the steroid are fine - no hair loss at all. Both eyes swelled almost all the way shut but only one eye swelled before the shot and this was in the 3 min it took me to get back to vet 3 blocks away.

The one eye that swelled before the steroid has no hair around it. well, long book short, it's very obvious it was the shot and the spots that popped out before shot are visible only with hair loss, but he did not break out on his ears at all, yet no hair.

Will he get his hair back? how long before I should worry? I took him back to vet - they said he would be fine but i'm just not buying it at all. I have had a dog break out but never that bad with side effects like that.

Also, I did rearrange my whole house just in case something else is continuing to effect him like the ficus plant that he kept eating the leafs of he would make us chase him to get the leafs back. we also noticed the white on him go from white to pink but is he breaking out to something else or is that normal?

Mites?
by: Anonymous

When I took my 5 month old to the vet for a shot the vet asked about a bald spot on her forehead if it was getting worse. It was not, but she decided to do a test for mites anyways. It came up negative but that could be a cause for your poor baby's hair loss.

If you are still concerned and have lost faith in your vet you should seek another opinion from a different clinic. I believe from what you have descibed that the hair loss was due to the allergic reaction to his shots and that the hair will grow back in time, but I also understand your extreme concern after all your Boston is your baby and it never hurts to be cautious. Better safe than sorry right!
