Boston Terrier Frothy like Runny Nose / Dry

by Anonymous

Hello I have a 3 month old BT who has a runny nose when she is excited or cold; its like a white 'frothy' snot. Never green or runny like a humans. Also when her nose is not running it is dry, not wet like they say it is supposed to be. Is this normal? Do all BTs have the same thing?

frothy nose

My mixed terrior is more cairn/yorky mix but has the "frothy" nose in our cool Florida winter. He is only 1-1/2 yrs old and I've started noticing the froth in the cold weather we've had. He also has skin allergies which I've spent plenty of money on. I am guessing this has something to do with allergies--the moist nose which frothes when it is cool--? He is a happy, active dog.

My 5 month old BT Georgia gets a frothy nose while outside if the temperatures are cool. I believe a lot of them do, just another thing common for them because of their short muzzles!

Mine gets the Frothy nose too but only when he is walking on the leash. Is that pretty common?

I have male and female as well as their two puppies. My female started sneezing, runny nose and the reverse sneezing, and now she has given it to my other dogs. Does anyone know what this is? Please help!

My angel man does that too- I was alarmed at first but our Homeopathic vet assured me it is normal. They do have their special breathing, and when nose is close to ground, sniffing incessantly it happens. This summers humidity here in Ohio does it to my 3 yr old...

Runny nose

My boston gets a runny nose as well. Although it is usually clear, it does become dry at times too. I actually took my dog to the vet because she has been getting red all over her face when she is in grass and has been doing the reverse sneezing thing a lot. The vet told me she is allergic to grass. Your pup may have some sort of allergy. If it does not bother you I would not worry too much about it. But if it does persist I would take your pup to the vet just to make sure everything is ok.
Hope that helped.
