boston terrier constantly licks

He is 12 and has been doing this through out his life but it has gotten alot worse over the past few years. It has gotten to the point that is is extremely nerve racking to my pregnant wife. If you call his name while he is licking he will look at you and stop for a minute but then start licking again. anyone have any ideas?

Allergies or anxiety
by: Maureen

We have struggled with our 8 year old dog with allergies. It is always worse in the spring and fall. One thing that helped was a change of food to eliminate corn and other fillers from diet. Also you might ask the vet for a good shampoo to help with dry skin. Since our dog has had a problem for a few years, we now give her benadryl when she gets bad. We have always found it helped if she was kept active with walks and exercise then she tended to sleep rather than lay around and lick. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.
