Boston Terrier biting ankles

by Gary

Anybody had success training a Boston Terrier puppy not to nip & bite at their shoes or ankles while walking thru the house? He's 3 months old and we've done a pretty good job on getting him to quit biting hands while you hold him, but can't seem to find anything that makes him stop the ankle biting, and it gets real annoying real quick. Any help would be appreciated- thanks

booty tap
by: Laura

I have tried everything to get my Boston to stop biting - especially my hands. I have been sweet, said no and bad. But lately I just tap her hind end lightly and she stops. She gets a little sad too but she is starting to understand that biting is bad. She is 9 months old and before when I would so that she kept biting so hopefully she is just maturing - but I doubt it!!!

water bottle
by: julie

My friend has a 14 year old boston and has given me some advise since we just got our first bt puppy:) This was one of the things i asked her about. Her dog did the same thing as a pup and she was told to get a squirt bottle filled with water and give him a little squirt when he nips at ankles or bites at pants. I was not sold on this idea at first, especially since our baby loves the water and i didn't want this to make him afraid of water all together. well, we finally reached a breaking point and my husband got a bottle. it worked amazingly, all it does it gets his attention and he stops right away. i don't think he even realizes it's water so he still loves the pool and tub! we actually only had to squirt him a few times, after that we just pick up the bottle and when he sees it he stops! hope this helps, good luck :)

Ankle biting

I have tried that, but for some reason he thinks the paper is a toy and that I am playing with him. I am hoping he'll just grow out of it

Biting ankles

I used a folded up newspaper on our dog. We always have a paper nearby & now we just pick it up & say no & he stops what he is doing. Hope this helps.
