Boston terrier aggressive towards strangers

My boyfriend and I got Prince about 3 years ago. From the very beginning he was a shy and lazy puppy. It took him a while to even warm up to us, much less others. My roommate at the time helped in training him, so he was socialized with her. He let strangers come up and pet him, but over time he has become pretty aggressive towards people he isn't familiar with. Everytime I take him to the vet, or leave him with a sitter (typically my roommate I mentioned earlier), he tries to bite them. As cliche` as it is, he's even tried to bite the mail man! I also have a 2 y/o female who shows no signs of aggression, who was raised in the same manner and environment as Prince. I just don't know what do to; I really don't want him to hurt anyone!

Agressive Boston terrier Pom mix
by: Anonymous

Hi, we had a Boston terrier and Pomeranian mix and he didn't like anyone except the family and two friends he got used to as a pup. Even as a pup though he would still shy away acting afraid of certain strangers that he didn't like and then as he got older he tried to bite anyone he wasn't familiar with. After about having him for 15 months, we made the hard decision to have him put down because he even started getting snappy with our kids. It wasn't getting better but worse. We even had to muzzle him to take him to the vet for his yearly shots, because he would try to bite everyone. The last straw was when he bit someone at a cookout we had. He was on the chain and we were trying to get him used to other people and someone tried to go up to him and say hi and was bit. What was funny was that he was never aggressive towards other dogs, just other people. It was a hard decision but we know we made the right one for the safety of our children and others around us.
