Boston Terrier Aggression

by Kat

I have a 2 month old Boston Terrier and she is starting to show aggression while eating, and if some one takes a stick or toy from her she will bite people. I am worried as I have a 5month old baby. What should I do?

puppy aggression

At 2 months honestly there is no such thing as aggression. There is puppy play and they will play with you the way they would play with their litter mates. This happens to be biting and growling. I am guessing this is your first dog? Bostons are very gentle dogs. That is what we breed them to be. It's on rare occasion to get a nasty one. With that being said Bostons do play really hard and rough. A puppy is going to react towards you the same way they would their litter mate. If you take a toy this invites play and your new pup will do what it takes to get it back. It's our responsibility to teach a puppy human rules. This takes time and patience. As far as food aggressive behavior again you could have gotten the piglet of the litter or the total opposite that it's the one that had to fight for its food. What exactly are you seeing? Bostons are very food motivated dogs. I would highly recommend for you to get a dog trainer to help you train this puppy. I would also suggest to pick up some good books on dog behavior. It will really help you to understand why dogs act/behave the way they do.
