i just bought a 7 week old boston pup with a runny nose - is this normal? And he is sleeping a lot. just thought i would ask; i am going to take him to the vet if he doesn't seem to get better.
runny nose might mean ear infection (?) by: GetYourLeash
My Boston Puppy is 11 weeks and he also had a runny nose off and on - running clear. I became concerned and it turned out it was a secondary symptom to a severe bacterial ear infection. I think your puppy should be examined by a vet and have the vet do a cytology on your puppy's ears. Good Luck.
PS no Rx veterinary medication worked for my Boston's infection. I wound up using Zymox Otic Solution which is available through online veterinary supply stores without a prescription. The Zymox cleared his ears up quickly and without having to clean the ears first.

runny nosed pup by: Laurel
It may be normal, what color is the discharge? if it is clear there probably is no problem but if it is yellow or green there definately is and should go to the vet. Sleeping alot is normal at this age as they are still little babies. they tend to play hard and wear themselves out. unless his runny nose is because he is sick ( yellow or green discharge ) It never hurts to take your pup to the vet to have him checked out and get his shots then you can quit worrying and have peace of mind that your baby is healthy.
