Bell Training

We miss you Bean.

We miss you Bean.

Our Boston ("Bean")just recently died and we just found this site in our search for a breeder to get another one, our home will not ever be without a BT after having him. He was absolutely the greatest---and my best bud. We will not have expectation of another Bean BT as we would not ever burden our next BT in that way, it would only be unfair. But another BT we must have at any rate.

On the subject of training, we were very successful in training Bean to ring a bell each time he had to go outside. It was simple persistence that paid off. Each time we took Bean out we would ring the bell and make sure that he witnessed it, and then out the door we went. Within a few months, we were in the TV room and out of nowhere, we heard the bell ring one night. We get to the door and there's my best bud standing there waiting to be let out----just an awesome dog.

Great Way to Train

All I did was use their paws when they are young every time we took them out, eventually they got the hint and now are potty trained to use the bell when they want out

Bean

So sorry for your loss of Bean. I know that no dog will ever replace Bean, but I hope that you will find the perfect new Boston to love and to bring joy to your lives.

We happen to have a doggie door now, but Shadow's dad had been trained to ring a bell as well. Bostons really seem to take to the bell-ringing for going out. ;-)
