The Basston is a cross between a Basset Hound and a Boston Terrier. This cross is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club and can be registered through their organization. They generally make good pets with training, and are growing in popularity.
The Boston/Basset mix has a short, fine coat. Common coat colors are white with either sand, brown or chestnut markings. An occasional brushing and bath is all that is needed to care for their short coats. Their weight can very greatly between 15 and 40 pounds, and are 12 to 16 inches tall.
Basset Hound/Boston Terrier mixes are alert, yet gentle and calm. Both parent breeds are known for their good temperaments, making most of these dogs good for families with children and other pets. They can be stubborn and difficult to housebreak, so patient and consistent training is needed. These dogs don't need a whole lot of exercise, but good diet and some activity will keep their weight in check.
Average life expectancy for this mix is 12 to 15 years.
