Bad swelling from phenobarbitol

Our dog bc is 6-half yrs old had mild seizure and vet put him on phenobarbitol and now he's tired and is gaining fluids. 9 lbs is how much he gained in a week and won't eat much. I stopped meds 3 a week ago and now he's at the ark animal hospital in hiram georgia, and they cant figure out whats wrong. Any ideas please let me know. I am worried sick and my wife, too. He's our buddy and we feel helpless. Anyone had this problem? Let us know. He looked good with ultra sound.

 loss of my little one due to seizure

I just lost my little girl Maggie Mae to a seizure. I have been so upset because the doctor did not give me any meds for her yet. She told me to keep an eye on them and to time them. Well we were out at the time she had the bad one and when my daughter arrived home she was nearly gone.
I was putting the blame on the vet , due to no meds. But after reading what happened to your little baby I am not sure what we could had done. I am so sorry for your loss.
I know I am hurting so very much this pain is killing me. I have cried so very much.. I guess I was just looking for someone to put the blame on for taking her away... She was three yrs old.. Prayers are with you both...

 PHENOBARBITOL POISONS BOSTONS

This is an update on my dog bc, who was given phenabarbitol injection by Dr.Kahn in powder springs at powder springs animal clinic.
He died this morning 3-4-2010 he was diagnosed with vasculitis by the ark hospital hiram ga_great people there"especially DR BOWEN,THE DIRECT RESULT OF PHENOBARBITOL.
IT MESSED HIS IMMUNE SYSTEM UP AND DR.KAHN SHOULD HAVE TOLD US HOW DANGEROUS IT IS TO SENSITIVE DOGS SUCH AS OUR BC WAS.
I HAVE CRYED ALL MORNING WITH MY WIFE, WE ARE DEVISTATED WE HOPED WE COULD SAVE HIM.
PLEASE THINK BEFORE ANYONE OF YOU USE THIS DRUG ON YOUR BOSTONS.

The vet thinks this is vasculitis, his poor face is swollen bad now, and his body and legs. Ate very little tuesday 3-2-10. Today I visited him at vet. He drank a lot of water and was hand fed.
The vet's treating with predison (may have spelled wrong) please excuse grammar - I've been so upset at thought he might not pull thru.
He's on iv at vet. Any info, please advise.

I had a Beagle who had a seizure. It turned out to be parasite related. Could be many other reasons. I would contact Holistic Animal Medicines. They are in Australia, but can really help you.
