Are bostons protective?

I am wondering if bostons are good protectors of their house and owners. Not to say that they will growl and bite at strangers, but will they protect their family if they feel a family member is threatened? Or will they show an intruder around the place when they break in? Just wondering if any owners know first hand.
Thank You!

When I was 4 years old my father rescued a beautiful boston...Charlie. He quickly became my best friend. he was also my protector. My parents could even disipline me with him in the room. I have had 6 rescues since and every one has been a guardian. My Joe just recently became a daddy and am anticipating a new addition!!

What if someone breaks in what do you think a boston's response would be?

Protective Boston Terriers

Both of our Bostons bark at anything out of the ordinary. We live in the country, so they both recognize any odd car coming into the drive, etc.., but Sophie has very good hearing and is especially protective. If Sophie starts barking or growling at night, we know it's because there is really something out of the ordinary.
