Are Bo-Chi dogs born with short tails?

I found my Bochi on Craigslist. She was abused and sick. The owner said that the previous owner cut her tail off with scissors as a pup. Her dew claws are gone as well. Can they naturally have short tails and no dew claws? She was 1 1/2 years old and we have owned her since November.

Tails/Dew Claws

I have only had 4 litters and they are all purebred Bostons but I can say that some are born with short tails and some have the longer tail from the terrier background. Those with the longer tails usually get "docked" which is done by a professional vet when they are days old.

Some have all their dew claws and some don't have any. The vet will also clip their dew claws just to protect them from getting ripped later in their life. This is also done when they are days old because after that their bones calcify and it would be considered an amputation.

No Tail

Boston Terriers are born without tails. There are two kinds of tails the stub and the corkscrew tail.
I see a lot of female Bostons with a corkscrew tail, my Boston who is a male has a stub tail. I have never heard of a dog being born without dew claws.
