After a Patellar Luxation surgery

Hello, my female Boston Terrier is just 2 1/2 years old and she had to have surgery on her left hind leg due to Patellar Luxation. We just brought her home and are having a hard time dealing with this. She can't walk at all and we have no clue how she is suppose to go out to go to the bathroom. We pick her up and place her down but keep her hind legs up in the air a little with a towel that is wrapped under her belly. But like most Boston's, she is stubborn and won't go. She has been urinating in her cage and we are afraid of getting her cast wet due to this. Also, any movement at all and she "yelps" really loud from pain and it's enough to bring this macho man to tears. My wife and I need help and advice on how to treat her.
