I'm at a loss. My poor 9 month old baby is very active and loves to play ball. Over the last month I noticed that she was holding her left back leg up. She did not holler in pain and normally would put it down and she would play some more. It never seemed to bother her. I took her to the vet this Saturday and she had x-rays and was diagnosed with a partial ligament tear (ACL in humans)and luxating patella between a 2-3. The vet advised to put her on crate rest and giver her her medications he prescribed for pain. He said that she would need surgery on the luxating patella in 6 months and hopefully the ligament tear would heal itself. I'm unsure of having surgery on the patella and I'm concerned that the ligament tear will not heal and need surgery too. She is absolutely hating her crate. She feels as if she is being punished. She used to just lay down and go to sleep but now its non stop whining and i came home today with her bed torn to pieces. We can't let her out of her crate because she jumps from furniture to furniture and runs around the house. The vet said that she does not need to jump up for the rest of her life and can't run until her leg heals. Inside her crate we do include chew toys, pork chews, and soft toys but it seems to not be enough. Is there anything else that could be done to fix this problem. Any ideas????
