7 mo old Boston Terrier only holds it 4 hrs?

Hello, I'm new to BT'S but a former Lhasa Apso owner and currently have a Yorkie mix so I know how to deal with a stubborn dog! I'm adopting a 7 mo old female, we think 7 mo, and about 9 lbs...and she apparently can only stay in her crate for 3-4 hrs before she pees in her crate. To me this is odd, my Lhasa male was house broken by 5 months, which is amazing. But my male Yorkie took about 8 months and was fully crate trained. He's 9 lbs. I'm worried that this BT girl may have a health issue, uti maybe or something worse, and that's why she's going in the crate? Like I said, I'm new to this breed...and adore them! So maybe I'm just used to males learning faster? Any input is appreciated!!

training a female

My female was still having accidents at 7 months, just be patient and give her some more time. She was about a year old or close to it before I noticed all accidents stopping.

Potty Training

We have 3 Bostons and they were not completely and reliably potty trained until they were about 2 years old. Some are better than others. We still let ours outside every hour or so when we are home. If you need to be gone for more than 3 or 4 hours, then see if you can get someone to come inside and let your pup out to potty. If not, then try letting him outside to potty for a longer period before you put him in the crate. Also, the more water he drinks then the more he will need to "go".

If the male is "in-tact" then he will usually "mark" instead of "pee". If this is the case then take him on a long walk until he is "empty" before he goes into the crate for the morning. At any rate watch him closely until you feel he has really relieved himself.
