5 week old Boston Terrier is sick

by Christie
(Glen, Florida)

My puppy has been fine until 2 days ago when she started shaking her head with drool/vomit coming out her mouth an nose. She is the only 1 out of the litter that seems to have this problem and I know that the parents of her are in good Health, Any idea of what the problem might be please let me know. Thanks

Sounds like to me this is a question for the vet. Get her there immediately.

sick puppy

It could be the kind of food your feeding her. It could be too rich for her or it could be filled with too many bad things. We feed our 2 6 mos. old bostons "Natures Recipe" for puppies in Lamb & Rice flavor.

Have you travelled with her or has she moved to a new enviroment? She could be unsettled or nervous causing her not to eat well or digest her food properly. She may not be taking the time to chew and just swallowing it.

Hope she feels better soon. It stinks to see your puppy done & out and not know how to fix her. If you haven't seen a change for the better in 2-3 days get her to the vet. Be sure to keep her hydrated in the meantime though. Take care & Good Luck, Tami

Sick Puppy
by: Mary

So sorry to hear your puppy is sick.
5 weeks old means she just had some puppy shots, right? If she was de-wormed, then some puppies react badly to that. We had a litter of 7 and two puppies went crazy after their medication. They threw up and shook. I thought they were possessed! But it only lasted for a few "episodes" The vet said they had a reaction to the medication and he gave them a different kind the next time.

If she has had no shots then it is obviously something else. See the vet as soon as possible.
