4 m/o BT's ears curling back

they were floppy when she was younger, then when they started to stand up more we got excited! out of nowhere the left ear began to literally curl back and the right soon followed.

i read in a different post about the puppy's storing calcium in their teeth and once they stop teething they store it in their ears. which allows the cartilage to harden and the ears to become more erect. not sure if that's relevant as to why her ears are curling back, instead of flopping forward.

any ideas?

4 m/o BT's ears curling back (update)
by: Roxana Aguilar

my baby girl just turned 5 m/o and her ears are more erect not. The right one stood up first and the left soon followed. Funny how that happens. He left one is not as strong yet so it still tends to flop. She's such a cutie either way! Thank you all for all your help!

I wouldn't worry about her ears unless you are going to show her . She is a beautiful Boston anyway.

DON'T WORRY! At only four months old their ears are still going through the whole process. My female done the same exact thing before they stood up. The ears won't stand completely up until about 8 months or up to one year, it really just depends on the dog.

In my somewhat limited experience (3 BTs), the ears change a lot during the first 6-8 months, front flipping and back flipping. One of mine came to me at 7.5 weeks with upright ears, and they have never changed. My rescue has more pointed ears; we got her as an adult, and they are curled slightly back. As long as your BT is not a show dog, it doesn't matter a bit and gives your BT "character," so to speak.

Other owners may have suggestions for you as to how to get them to stay more upright.

floppy ears???

Yes....our veterinarian told us exactly that. We already "owned"two French Bulldogs when we adopted our Boggle. (part Boston Terrior and part Beagle). The French Bulldog always has the large "bat" ears that totally stand straight up...even if they tend to flop down while they are teething. Our Boggle had the same thing happen. But because of her lineage, we weren't certain which way they would go...up or down. She now has the stand-up ears of the Boston (like the Frenchies) ever since she has been spayed at six months and her baby teeth have all fallen out. Her long tail and beautiful brindle coat are that of the Beagle.
Our vet told us that many of these puppies need all the calcium they can get while their big girl teeth are forming. And if their ears are meant to stand up, they will do so once teething is done. She actually spent several months with one ear up and the other one totally down.....and they would even take turns doing so at times.
I guess that is part of the fun of having a Boggle....one never knows just how they are going to look until they have grown.
Best of luck with your little one.

a friend told me to feed them yogurt.

A friend told me to feed them a cup of yogurt and this would give them calcium and make the ears stand up.
