4 am wake-up

I have a ten week old BT. In general, she is wonderful, however, at four o clock every morning she whines. The first few nights she was let out, would pee and went back in the crate no problem and fell asleep. The last few nights we have been woken up at four by excessive whining but she doesn't need to pee. She refuses to go back and on/off whines till 8. I don't want to give in to this and make four am a regular wake up everyday.

THE PUPPY IS ONLY 10 WEEKS !!
by: Anonymous

I am a proud momy of 18 months boston. I had her since she was 7 weeks old. I dont know if you ever had young puppies or babies but you can not expect anything else from 10 weeks old puppy!! at 10 weeks old, a puppy can hold for 2-3 hrs so you need to be mindful of it. For the first 6 months with my puppy, I would put alarm and get up based on her age to take her potty. Of course if she would whine and cry, I would let her out and put her on training pad for potty. I would also tell her to potty and when she would do it, I would praise her and give her a little treat. I had to get up 2 times at least when she was young for several weeks until she learned and it was because of my routine that she was fully potty trained by her first birthday with no accident in her last months and up to now. Be gentle to your little 10 weeks old. Bostons are smart but at 10 weeks the puppy has no clue to remember that if it does certain things it would get this or that! Oh I fully disagree with others who say it. I raised puppy myself and at that age they are so young to have any understanding of these things. As they get older, yes, sometimes they try to outsmart you in a funny way but no way of teaching a 10 weeks old to understand not to wake u up at certain time. Its a little puppy after all!! The only thing that help them learn is a regular routine and sticking to it for several months. It wouldnt do the majic unless it happens each day and for several weeks. Then you will see the result. For now, please be patient and enjoy the puppyhood as it will pass fast. Having a puppy is so much like a an infant, it needs sacrifice and patience. Best of luck.

Two day fix
by: mel

Hello,
I had a similar issue. I took her out when she started and would not let her in until she did her business. The key is not to talk unless its " do your pee" or "good girl or boy". And then put her right back in the crate. It took me a two days and it was solved. Just remember no small talk... Your bt will figure out your not impressed and know they better not wake you up if they dont have to go. Good luck
