3 YRS OLD BT-WON'T JUMP OFF BED

Last week our Boston jumped off our bed and hurt his paw, walked around limping for about 3 days, now he will jump and play but when he tries to get off the bed he whines and wants us to pick him up and set him off the bed, he also is walking funny, like taking very quick steps, but I have felt his paws and legs and everything feels fine. What is wrong with him?

Boston's Legs

Our Boston jumped off the bed too and hurt her leg. Come to find out, she had already had a luxating patella and it needed surgery. We waited for a while (couple of weeks) but it never improved so we had it done on one knee. It has not caused any problems since then (3 years ago).

If your pup only hurt her paw, then maybe it actually cracked a bone. Perhaps it was only a hairline fracture but those do take some time to heal and if she is continually walking on it then it might not heal well enough.

You could get an x-ray to tell for sure. They really aren't THAT expensive. Our x-ray cost about $70.00. She still doesn't like jumping off the bed now so we just pick her up. Also, we built some steps for her to go up and down. She uses those most of the time.
