2 Year Old Female keeps hacking/coughing.

My dog Prada has had a persistent cough that sounds dry and sort of like she is trying to hack something up. Nothing ever comes up, but this has been going on now for a few days. It seems to happen a little bit more often after she's gotten really excited or been running around. Sometimes, there seems to be no cause for it. I am really concerned and could use any advice.

 How Long

How long did this last? I think my 5 month old picked up kennel cough at day care. he went on friday and has been hacking for a few days now. Last night he was actually spitting up. the vet said there is really nothihng they can do. I feel bad that he got sick at camp and dont want to send him back if he is going to keep getting sick. but he loves going there and i like that he gets to socialize with other dogs.

It sounds like she has picked up kennel cough. It's highly contagious and it's going around like wildfire right now. A vet appointment should be on top priority but let them know prior to going in. There is not anything that cures it but they usually give an antibiotic so they don't get a secondary infection. I find the best thing to use is a vaporizer with human Vicks in it. It works really well.
