2 boston terriers

we have an 8 month old male and have just gotten an 8 week old male all they do is run around barking and biting each other. i think they are playing but my husband gets nervous they're going to hurt each other. Is this normal? How do I know if they like each other?

playing?
by: Linda Galway/TurnerME

Our two Bostons get into what I call "face-biting" when they both make the same noise and try to bite each others' faces, but they never hurt each other and, like others have pointed out, the next minute they'll curl up and snooze together. I think, for the most part, it's just their way of playing Who's the Boss. As long as one is not cowering and hurt, there should be nothing to worry about.

Playing/Fighting?
by: Mary

Ours get pretty rough biting but they Are just playing. I noticed they don't really bite that hard. If they are mad you WILL know. They usually hurt one another and there would be crying.

Be sure to watch them closely, though because of the one being so much smaller!

2 bostons
by: Tami

It sounds exactly like what we went through and still go through with our 2 female bostons. They are both 14 mos. old and from day 1 they have gone at it with one another. Lucy, our smallest will try to "hump" Sasha (the larger one) in efforts to show dominace. You know, in the dog world there is always a "pack leader". Your dogs are probably just trying to figure out which one it'll be! We've learned not to interfere too much though when they get going b/c we interrupt their learning process. They'll never learn how far to push one another if they are always pulled apart. Our girls are very vocal and very physical with one another but never to the point of drawing blood and just as quick as it gets going it can stop and you'll find them lying next to each other asleep. That is, until the next round!!!
