12 week old boston terrier bit my neck

I was exercising and my 12 week old boston terrier chihuahua mix bit me on the neck really hard. It bled for 20 minutes. I was not even looking at him. He was playing with a toy and then I felt him biting me. He is from a shelter and the trainer insisted we return him because we have a 2 and 6 year old. I am heartbroken. They said he and a brother both had bitten people and were showing unusual aggression.

biting

Contact your vet. The shelter trainer told us the dog needed to see a behaviorist. Another person told us to take the dog to puppy kindergarten. She said her pup bit so much she couldn't even play with him. My puppy really ambushed me when I was not even interacting with him and he bit really deep. I think mouthing and biting by mistake during play are normal and can be corrected. look for a puppy book. My pup also had an unknown father. We don't know the breed - Chihuahua, boxer, or pit bull and an equally aggressive brother which made the shelter think there was a problem and the dog needed to be in an adult only home. Did you contact the breeder? Now I'm afraid to get a dog period. I had a Daschund for 16 years so I may go to a breeder and pay the extra money for a pedigree wirehair.

12 wk old female red Boston bites
by: Daniel B.

We acquired a red n white female puppy from a breeder as a playmate for our black n white female Boston, but she is much more petite, 2 lbs lighter and very fragile, yet only a wk younger. Our b+w Boston is a sweetheart, obeys, only bites playfully, but the r+w has bitten everyone but me, including our 2 year old boy who is great with the other pup. She came with coccidians and is being treated, which we thought might be related, but she doesn't let us pick her up from behind and even facing her she'll growl and bite. Her response to a kiss can be a bite. I'm the only one she is tolerant with, so far. My wife has tried all the tricks, but the pup doesn't seem to accept her unless she gives a treat and still. She always wants my lap and seems terrified. What do we do? Was she abused by her littermates, is she nervous cause she's sick? I'm concerned for the kids, who love them, but...
Thanks

Biting Boston
by: Christine defazio

He was a Boston Terrier mix and they don't know the father. They said Chihuahua but he was too big. 6 pounds at 12 weeks. I think he is one of those mini-Boxers. He looks just like a Boxer but tiny.

I want to adopt a puppy from the shelter, but now I am afraid they may have too many issues to be safe around my young children (2 and 6).

Boston Bites
by: Mary

So sorry to hear about your bite. I am surprised too because on the average Bostons are very sweet. If you have already given your puppy back and you plan on replacing her, try to get one from a breeder who knows the personalities of her breed stock and pick one from a line of sweeties.
